Arts for All!

The Orbit Initiative has been an incredible learning experience, and while we love providing arts classes for all, we can’t help but wonder if there are even more ways to support art in our community. Since there are already so many incredible local organizations working toward providing arts education and experiences, why not work alongside those already doing the work?

We’ve chosen three local arts organizations making amazing strides in their communities toward providing art to those who would not otherwise have access to it. By using our resources to support and mentor these groups, we believe we can help them create arts education and opportunities for all.

Community Partners

Northside Performing Arts Community

Micah Wise started Wise Moves Dance Academy after seeing young dancers turned away from dance troupes. She realized she could not only give these young dancers an alternative outlet but also train them with the skills they’d need to get on the dance troupes they’d been turned away from.

Now, with the support of Orbit Arts, Wise will be able to expand her vision and create the Northside Performing Arts Community, providing classes in everything from dance to culinary arts for those in kindergarten through 12th grade. They’ll even get a chance to show off their skills in creative productions.

Want to see Wise Moves show their stuff? You can see what they’re up to and watch the organization grow on their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/wisemovesacademy/

Tulsa People’s Orchestra

Benjamin Ray, who marched with the Broken Arrow Pride Band in high school and now teaches at Central High School in Tulsa, believes in the power of music to bring people together. He believes in that power so much, he created an entire organization around the idea: Tulsa Peoples' Orchestra.

Ray realized that, once an individual left school, there wasn’t much of an opportunity to play a musical instrument unless you wanted to do it professionally. Tulsa Peoples' Orchestra provides everyone who plays an instrument the chance to do it for fun, for fellowship and the chance to continue doing something that feeds the soul.

Follow the adventures of Tulsa Peoples' Orchestra — and maybe even catch a free concert — by following them on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/tulsapeoplesorchestra/
